Autism Assessments

The assessment is comprised of a cognitive assessment (if required); the ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – Second Edition); and the ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised). The ADOS is a standardized diagnostic tool, considered to be the ‘gold standard’ for Autism assessments. The assessment is completed by a multidisciplinary team consisting of a psychologist, an occupational therapist and a speech and language pathologist. The ADOS requires approximately one hour of direct social interaction with the child. Depending upon the age of the child, the parent may or may not be required to attend the assessment. There are different assessment modules for varying ages and speech and language abilities.

Psychoeducational Assessments

A psychoeducational assessment consists of various assessment protocols with the purpose of determining the strengths and weaknesses of an individual’s unique learning profile. It can also help identify learning disabilities; intellectual disabilities, developmental disorders (ie. ADHD) and/or social emotional problems. Various tests are given to an individual to determine their intellectual and cognitive abilities. With a complete understanding of an individual’s learning profile, personalized recommendations are then provided to aid in one’s success in the academic environment.
